Good day. As you've probably already gathered, I'm not doing well. Friday afternoon I didn't feel too bad. My back wasn't giving me a lot of grief, and while I was conscious of inadvertently overstressing things, for all intents and purposes, I appeared to be on the mend. Friday night Leah and I went out to do some Christmas browsing. To the best of my knowledge, I didn't do anything crazy or stupid. In other words, I was cognisant I had a problem, and acted accordingly. Saturday morning I awoke feeling chipper, but couldn't get out of bed. As Pooh would say, "Oh Bother". I spent the better part of the weekend prone on the couch, trying to anticipate the spasms. Frankly, I not a whole lot better today, but as they say, I have a job to do...
The good news is, with the help of my good wife and the Internet, we managed to complete most of our Christmas shopping this weekend. Which means -- for once -- we can enjoy the upcoming holiday season without worry about venturing out into the "consumer insanity" people commonly refer to as department stores.
I bought a digital camera yesterday; it should arrive by about the 15th, well in time for the upcoming festivities. I'm delighted. It's a gift the whole family will enjoy, as well as friends and all my devout readers. After a great deal of research, I chose a Sony DSCP-71. While I had my heart set on an Olympus, the model I wanted was almost $1200 CDN -- just a tad over my shopping budget. The Sony won out because it was a tremendous deal. By charging it to my credit card, I got 15% off the advertised price, I get an "addendum" package in the deal (leather case, high-speed charger, and an extra set of batteries), plus a manufacturer's rebate for a spare memory card (it comes with a 16M card, I get a second for free). I know I'll likely want to pick up a 64 or 128MB card sometime down the road, but for now what I've got ordered is Good Enough.
Sorry for the short post, but I'm not in control of my life right now -- my back is. And my back is telling me it's time to move; gently and for only a few short minutes.
Be well. And I hope your holiday weekend was a good one.
